A Deadly Virus
"I have loved you, says the Lord. But you say, 'How hast Thou loved us?'"Malachi 1:2
We have all heard stories of people who needed to be rescued because they were on a surfboard or swimming, and they let themselves drift too far from shore to get back on their own. Tragically, some of them drown before anyone can reach them. What causes these folks to get in trouble? Often it is complacency. They weren’t paying attention and drifted into harm’s way before they realized it.
We can do that as well. If we just float through life or put too much emphasis on our ease or comfort, we can lose the excitement we once had for the things of God. We lose the passion we had for Worship and Bible study, and we may even lose our ability to see all that God is doing in our lives. Don’t let that happen. Instead, heed God’s antidote for the virus of complacency: “Return to Me, and I will return to you.”
