Breathe Free
"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery."Galatians 5:1
When I think of freedom, one of the first things that comes to my mind is the Statue of Liberty. Located in New York Harbor, Lady Liberty stands with her torch reaching heavenward with freedom’s light and a tablet with the words of invitation: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
People teeming to the shores of America seeking freedom and liberty is part of our nation’s rich history, and I understand why. All people yearn to breathe free. We must therefore remain committed to not only protecting and preserving the freedoms in our country, but proclaiming the freedom that can only come through Christ on the Cross – because that is what the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses really need. So as we continue to pray for a return to our foundation as a nation whose God is the Lord, let’s make sure we share the Good News of freedom in Christ with the people we come across today.
