Humble Ourselves

"And he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for he was about to pass through that way. And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, ‘Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.’"Luke 19:4-5
The familiar story of Zaccheus, the tax collector, is a beautiful picture of how we get into a relationship with God in Jesus Christ. It starts when we are willing to climb out on a limb and admit that we want Jesus to change the way we think, the way we live, to forgive us, and to clean up our lives.
We get in the proximity of Jesus. Then, He does the seeking. He does the saving. We think we’ve searched for God. Oh no. He was already there before you arrived. But when you crawl out on that limb, He will go home with you and make you into the person He has equipped you to be.
