Stop the Clock
"Therefore, I shall always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them…"2 Peter 1:12a
When a team falls further and further behind in a game, what does the coach do? If you’ve ever played on a team, you know exactly what he does. He calls a “time out.” And he tells the team it’s time to get back to the basics, back to the fundamentals of the game. Sometimes God calls a timeout in our lives, doesn’t He? He called a major timeout for all of us during the Covid pandemic. And He calls a timeout when you’re in a crisis moment, an SOS moment in your personal life, in your health, or in your family. He wants you to use that timeout to get back to the basics in your relationship with Him. He wants you to spend time with Him, return to the joy of your walk with Him, get back to worship, and get back to His Word. Our extremity is always God’s opportunity. So, the next time God uses something in your life to call a “time out” – consider how He might want to use that to do something special in and through you.
