Humble Ourselves

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation."Colossians 1:15
On a visit to the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, I spent time studying the famous frescoes of Michelangelo on its ceiling, particularly God’s creation of man. As I looked at the figure of God reaching down toward Adam, it occurred to me that Creator God merely looked like an “older Adam.”
We tend to make God look like us. But God is not a man. God is spirit. So how can we know what He looks like and what His image should look like in us? God answered that question when He clothed Himself in human flesh, demonstrating the dignity He sees in man and in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Yes, God became man, and in Jesus we see the true, full image of God Almighty! And that is the image He wants others to see in us.
